Brandis v. East Timor

Along with the Immigration minister Morrison, Attorney General Brandis is having a stand-off with yet another neighborhood country... East Timor. In a long standing dispute over mineral rights in the timor sea, ET claims they were foisted with an inferior deal after Oz spooks tapped into their private discussions ahead of the 'unfair' treaty signing some time ago. More recently, AG Brandis is said to have ordered an ASIO raid on the offices of one of ET's Australian-based lawyers, during which, documented evidence supporting ET's grievance was allegedly seized by the spooks.

I'd be pretty upset by this high-handed search and seizure myself. Don't be surprised if international jurists take a dim view of it as well, George.
