Shifting house

'I reckon many people would agree that one of the most tiring and frustrating tasks we face during the normal course of life is shifting from one residence to another. And, it becomes more of a burdensome chore, the older you become.'
That was the first sentence of a blog entry for this day in 2012 when I was resting after 3 days of assisting my son to shift into his then new house in the Macedon Ranges of Victoria. The accompanying cartoon was intended to portray the immensity of the task and the frustrations attendant to it.

Drive music

What was occupying my mind on this day in 2013? The original blog text reveals all.

Musical driving.

You'd think there were more important things to occupy the minds of 'tomorrow's leaders'. Yesterday's Age reports the findings of 'a London University' research into the impact of music being listened to while a person is driving a car. The tempo of Pop tunes was found to be the most conducive to concentration for drivers. 60-80 beats a minute mimicks the normal heartbeat of human beings. Wow! On the other hand, 'Hip-hop and heavy metal tend to make drivers more aggressive ... which is not a good thing. Gee! Who knew that? But, the rub is that Classical music is apparently a precursor to erratic driving! Oh yes ... largely attractive to that scourge of the highways ... the 'older' driver. Co-incidence?
Perhaps one would be crass to suggest that most of the 'researchers' would be ... err students? Thus, (generally speaking) with a distinct taste for modern music over older forms
Whatever, I shall continue to favour classical and even ancient music as my companion when undertaking long and tiresome 'behind the wheel' duty. And, to hell with the consequences!

Business Card

Early in the nineteen nineties my career in the airline industry had ended and I had seamlessly slipped into full-time cartooning. Though I was blessed with a number of good paying regular customers, I thought a business card might be handy to attract passing trade if ever the need should arise.

Here is the design I came up with at the time. It never went to print because during the ensuing 15 years    I was always battling to keep up with regular cartooning assignments.

They were the the happy days for the cartooning game!
