Is there a mouse in the house?

To an outsider, it seems the U.S. electorate has no memory. George W. Bush?. Tea partiers?  The Republican shambles which brought the US government into world-wide disrepute necessitating a sweep-out six years ago?

Ah well... it's none of my business. You make your bed... you have to lie in it!
