C'wealth Games cost in the balance?

Apparently the nabobs in charge of funding the various elements of our Commonwealth Games team are a good deal less than impressed with the return on investment (aka medal haul).

Since I was a kid, sport in almost every form has become so nakedly professional... it might as well be trading shares on the stock exchange. Whatever happened to the concept of sport being a 'fun' way of making friends whilst keeping fit?
