Drawing conclusions?

Maybe it's just the 'dog days' of winter,,, or, perhaps interest in cartooning as an expressive art IS on the wane at such a pace that even long-time practitioners are gradually losing interest?

Recent exchanges on social media seem to confirm the trend.

Sunday Strips

An off-ramp from the I.T. super-highway has been reached by the little ancients of Henge Primary.

Next week... a glimpse of that which kindled their aspirations in the days of rock-based technology(?)

Bill's Boats?

Doubts were already gathering about Bill Shorten's ability to lead Labor to regain the treasury benches.

He has now floated a new 'boats' policy which, if pursued, might well sink any hopes he may have had in the leadership field?

Lolly-Pop Day (USA)

Today I learned (accidentally) that yesterday was 'Lolly-Pop' Day in the US, 'Only in America' I hear you say... and, that was my immediate reaction as well.

It seems to be loosely associated with fund-raising for children's health solutions and research on finding preventatives for things like cancer of the oesophagus. What left me bemused were accompanying warnings that over-indulgence of sweets can ruin kid's teeth... thus lollies etc, should be enjoyed RESPONSIBLY... just like gambling.

If it is potentially 'bad' for kids...why promote the 'day' in the first place?

The Worm turns?

During the early 1990s I introduced a worm into my current affairs cartoons sporadically as a vehicle to add pithy ancillary comment to the subject in focus. It is a tool used by many 'toonies so I make no claim for it as an original idea. However, it has served me well over the years and deserves at least one accolade all to itself.

Speak no evil...?

From what possible reasonable standpoint can a round-trip Melbourne-Geelong-Melbourne (for a bun-fight) justify expenditure of $5000 of tax-payers' money?

Repaying the amount does not explain why any person holding public office might think such expenditure of other peoples' money might be within the rules!

Whose rules?

Copt'er?

Does Bronnie at least get sent to the naughty corner for 24 hours during the next sitting of the house?

Sunday Strips

The neolithic nippers are entering the home straight of their 1994 'Rarebits' interlude. Just a couple of triple strip episodes to go before the ennui is lifted from non-fans...

NB. For those who may not be familiar with the computer jargon of c.1994, here's a google 'heads-up' on the 'O.O.P.' reference above:

Object-oriented programming (OOP) is a programming language model organized around "objects" rather than "actions" and data rather than logic.

Now think famous US classic strip about yet another neolithic character named Alley...

Shorten Bill?

How much better off might the average tax-payer be if politicians on one side or another didn't waste tax revenue on stunts designed purely and simply to distract attention from their own short comings?

What is Decadence?

This should've been posted yesterday but circumstances conspired to dry up any time available for cartooning activities. Still, I don't think the wisdom (not) of Barnaby Joyce should be left unremarked upon...

Greece says NO!

I have no idea what will befall Greece as a nation in the wake of it's emphatic NO! response to the referendum on austerity measures.

I'm not big on omens... but the word 'no' could be construed as going on  backwards?

!980s Caricature roughs

Here are another couple of notable caricatures circa early 1980s, These were quick pen and ink sketches drawn in the same style and time frame as the Lee Kuan Yew pic published here earlier this year.
