Senate vote
Yesterday, my good lady and self presented at an early voting place to discharge our duty in helping to determine which of the candidate wretches will rule the federal roost for the next 3 years.
If the effort to improve ease and worthiness of completing a Senate vote is any indication… don't hold your breath awaiting the onset of good governance in the near future. IMHO the senate voting paper is a much bigger (and, I really mean BIGGER) joke than the fiasco of previous years. I recommend you make sure your reading glasses are with you on Saturday to illuminate the minuscule print… and that you resist the temptation to take home the senate voting form if your abode just happens to need re- wall-papering. The form will do the job easily… but it's probably illegal to use it in the fashion suggested above.
Good luck with the experience.

Over the fence!
Starting a new gag panel series today.
As I'm sure happens to other 'toonies, gags spring into your brain frequently but can't be used immediately because you don't have an appropriate vehicle available in which to launch them.
The purpose of this panel will be to float ideas that are somewhat over the top in character, but worthy of 'airing' just those same.

Brexit!
If you were watching the SKY news coverage of yesterday's referendum in Britain, you might have seen the only activity picked up by a camera focussed on the door of 10 Downing Street (for who knows how many hours?) was someone putting out the cat!
Now the 'cat' really IS out of the bag?!

Green?
In his speech to the National Press Club today, the Greens leader Richard Di Natale envisaged possible future broadening of democratisation in australian parliaments which could lead to his party sharing in government with any of the other parties on a basis of similar policy developments.
Interesting in light of today's political alignments?

Don't Vote! (?)
When the stolidity of election campaigns becomes almost unbearable, I think it is natural for some with-in the polity to start pondering the 'what ifs' about our system of political representation and the mechanisms currently in use to achieve mutually accepted governance.
And, in keeping with contemporary political catch-cries… perhaps the more innovative, the better?

In Vaudeville mode?
Treasurer Sco Mo's attempt to play the election scare card appears to have drawn more laughter than dismay among pundits and punters.
His apparent failure to gather accurate background evidence in support of an allegation that Greens have infiltrated Labor ranks has generated more fun than fear.
When political theatrics are employed by election candidates, they should be aware that success largely depends on a worthy script AND credible research of adopted themes.

Massacre of sanity?
Yet another horrific shooting of innocents in the USA by an apparently insane person armed with a military assault rifle.
How many more citizens of that nation have to die or be maimed at the alter of a constitutional element which was clearly written to meet an eighteenth century scenario with no ability to envisage military weapons like automatic assault rifles being in the hands of civilians in a non-warlike situation?
In my opinion, it is recklessly stupid of US political and civilian leadership to allow this deadly situation to persist any further. As far as I'm concerned, guns are not the problem. Culpibility lies with those who avoid dragging the constitution into the 21st century with an amendment to allow reasonable control over the trafficking of weaponry that ostensibly has no real use or purpose in a 'well regulated' civilian population.
As I understand it, the constitution requires nothing more than removal of an errant comma to enable corrective action to proceed?

Black Holes '16
Trying to get back to the drawing board with aimless daily squiggles. Here's one which has avoided the waste bin through a tenuous association with current political babble.
